A national outcry has been sparked by the violent r*pe and murder of a female doctor named Moumita Debnath who was employed at a government hospital in Kolkata. Moumita was also a second year post graduate student at the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. ASP Seema Pahuja will be looking into the case now.

On August 9, a postgraduate trainee physician was allegedly r*ped and killed while working at the hospital. Subsequently, the 32-year-old woman’s partially n*de body was discovered in the lecture hall of the government-run hospital in Kolkata.

The following day, a community volunteer was taken into custody in relation to the offense. After that, the Central Bureau of Investigation was directed by the Calcutta High Court to take over the investigation of the case from the Kolkata Police.

In India, medical experts and activists have taken to the streets to call for more safety measures for women as well as justice. The country awaits justice for the victim as the CBI launches its investigation, and everyone hopes that those accountable for this horrifying crime will be apprehended as soon as possible. ASP Seema Pahuja is heading the ongoing investigation. Pahuja is regarded as impervious to outside pressures due to her impeccable career and reputation for integrity. Seema Pahuja is posted as ASP in the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACP) in CBI unit of Ghaziabad

Pahuja’s career began in 1993 when she was recruited as a sub-inspector in the Delhi Police. Following training and years of service in the CBI’s Anti-Corruption Branch and Special Crime Unit, she was promoted to Inspector in 1998.

In 2013, she was elevated to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), during which time she  tackled cases involving human trafficking, religious conversions, murders, and crimes against minors and between 2007 and 2018, Pahuja was awarded two gold medals for exceptional investigative work.
