The Little League World Series 2024 is well underway and Dean Scarangello from Staten Island’s South Shore is going viral.

Scarangello is currently enjoying his time meeting players from various clubs from across Cuba and Puerto Rico.
He shared in an interview:
I feel honored to be here, meeting other teams, talking other languages. When I get back Staten Island, it’s going to be kind of chill.”

Dean Scarangello is a young and upcoming baseball player who is currently just 12 years old. He is the son of John Scarangello, who is a retired FDNY lieutenant, and a former high school and Division 1 baseball player. Dean is currently stands at a height of 4’10” and roughly weighs around 105 pounds. He mainly plays as a pitcher on the right field.
Team
Dean Scarangello currently plays for South Shore, which is currently representing the Metro region in the ongoing Little League World Series 2024. The team represents Staten Island, New York, and previously defeated the Rhode Island and New Jersey representative squads, to represent the Metro Region in the LLWS tournament.

Scarangello has so far played well in the LLWS 2024, helping his South Shore team win 17 of 20 games. During the NYS Tourney just last month, Scarangello most notably tossed three innings of one-hit ball during a 9-0 win over Massapequa Coast. He also made impressive performances for the team during the regionals.
Dean Scarangello the ‘Cologne Kid’
Aside from his performances, Dean is also making waves for another reason after being dubbed as the “Cologne kid”. The 12-year-old reportedly owns over 40 bottles of cologne, and does a funny on-field celebration where pretends to spray himself with cologne. The youngster has already featured across local and national newspapers and websites due to his antics.
When asked about his nickname, Dean shared:
I didn’t know people would notice me as the ‘Cologne Boy,’ ‘It’s cool because people recognize me.”
According to Dean Scarangello, his grandfather had an extensive fragrance collection, which inspired him to have his own. He further shared how has around 42 bottles of cologne back home, and Jean Paul Gaultier is his “go-to” scent. Meanwhile, his father explained about his son, saying:
It’s odd to me because I had one cologne my whole life.”
He further shared a story of Dean, asking why he was wearing a winter fragrance in summer, and then it dawned on him that his12-year-old kid was obsessed with cologne.
